Martell’s Gears up for Beers on the Boards

22 Feb

Martell’s Tiki Bar is loving this warm weather, and it’s getting us pumped up for Beers on the Boards! On Saturday, March 24th, the craft beer tasting festival will hit the Point Pleasant boardwalk and Tiki!

What is Craft Beer?

The American Brewers Association defines an American “craft brewery” as “small, independent and traditional”, with a production size of less than 6,000,000 US beer barrels a year. The brewery cannot be more than 24% owned by another alcoholic beverage company that is not itself a craft brewery! So, basically we get some great tasting local beer made with the love of a delicious brew!

Craft breweries, also known as microbreweries, utilize different marketing strategies than those of large, mass-market breweries. These breweries offer products that speak for themselves based on quality and diversity, instead of gaining attention due to low price and advertising.

The Association of Brewers reported a total of 1,482 craft breweries in the U.S. as of July 31, 2009:

  • 962 Brewpubs
  • 456 Microbreweries
  • 64 Regional Craft Breweries

That’s a lot of beer to taste!

Beers on the Boards

  • 20 breweries and an all-day gourmet buffet beginning at 12:30 p.m.
  •  Local NJ breweries including East Coast, Kane, Carton and Cricket Hill
  • Regional favorites like Yards (PA) and Sixpoint (NY) and breweries from across the country (along with a handful of unique imports.)
  • Buffet includes some cool beer-inspired fare and different beer/food pairings to sample.

Martell’s Journey through the Summer of 2011

30 Sep

Martell’s Tiki Bar had a fabulous summer partying with all of the great guests and regulars who came through the doors! It was quite the crazy summer between the earthquake, celebrity weddings and chart topping songs you all loved to hear! Check out our summer 2011 recap, but don’t forget we’re still partying all year!

The biggest news on the Jersey Shore was Mother Nature making a few appearances on the east coast. On August 23, an earthquake hit Virginia and the 5.9 magnitude quake stretched throughout the east coast including New Jersey, New York and North Carolina. Many ocean side residents couldn’t believe what was happening, and although the tremor didn’t last long, we will never forget it!

Hurricane Irene came around only a few days later on August 27. Irene was the first hurricane to hit the land of New Jersey since 1903! From the Carolinas to Little Egg Inlet all the way to Vermont, the affects of the hurricane resulted in severe flooding, road erosion and power outages across the east coast. Martell’s Tiki Bar survived the storm, proudly!

Kim Kardashian and Kris Humphries tied the knot on August 20. 400 guests joined the couple for the Old Hollywood themed wedding. Vera Wang designed not only the wedding dress, but the reception dress for the affair. The two then scampered off to Italy for a honeymoon!

We bet you remember where you were when you heard the news of Amy Winehouse. The English singer songwriter was found in her home on July 23. In August, her Back to Black album became the best selling album of the 21st Century in the UK.

Chart Toppers – According to the Billboard charts, these were the top 5 songs of the summer of 2011:

  1. Party Rock Anthem – LMFAO
  2. Give Me Everything – Pitbull ft. Ne-Yo
  3. Rolling in the Deep – Adele
  4. Super Bass – Nicki Minaj
  5. Last Friday Night (T.G.I.F) – Katy Perry

Did you happen to get to the movies on those rainy days? Here’s a recap of the top movies from this summer: Bridesmaids, The Hangover II, Transformers: Dark of the Moon, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2 and Crazy Stupid Love!

This summer was quite interesting, and it was a blast having all of you come party with us! We had some beautiful days on the ocean and we braved the natural disasters! We would like to hear what you’re favorite moments of the summer were! Let us know on our Facebook page and stay up to date with events happening year round at Martell’s!

Martell’s Margaritas on The Boardwalk

12 Apr

Summer is right around the corner and everybody is getting ready for some cocktails that pack a powerful punch.  A summer staple is the traditional margarita.  A well-crafted margarita can excite your palate and refresh you even in the heat of the Mexican Riviera.

Traditionally made with tequila, lime juice and triple sec this cocktail can be served up, rocks, frozen, salt, no salt, but don’t ever forget to top it off with a fresh lime wheel.  Even with all of these variations on a simple cocktail there has been a lot of growth since the 1930’s origination.  Martell’s Tiki Bar in Point Pleasant, NJ has done the margarita quite a justice.  We feature a variety of flavored margaritas that feature our own twist made with the finest tequila.

The ladies favorite seems to be the Lava Lamp Margarita.  We mix up Cuervo Gold Tequila, Triple Sec, sour mix and Chambord Liquor.  The extra kick adds a raspberry flavor along with the lavender liquor making the drink look even more appealing.

For the gentleman who is looking for a tropical treat we offer the Green Coconut Margarita.  We really vamp this one up with melon liquor, coconut rum and sour mix.  The glowing green glass will make you hard to miss on the Jersey Shore.

Our Blue Moon Margarita is similar to the traditional with an added blue tint to make it unique.  We use Cuervo Gold, lime juice, sour mix and Blue Curacao.  You’ll never be standing alone with your Blue Moon margarita in hand.

If you are looking to treat yourself to a top shelf drink the Ultimate Orange Margarita is your best bet.  A mixture of the finest—1800 Tequila, Cointreau, Grand Mariner, our famous fresh-squeezed orange juice and sour mix.  Request Margaritaville from one of our amazing live bands that play daily and enjoy!

Martell’s Tiki Bar opens full time once the weather gets nice out, so get ready to come on in and try one of these tempting libations.  If you’re not into the margarita mix we offer a full selection of beverages to satisfy any thirst.  Fresh squeezed and Tiki Tea are crowd favorites so be sure to try those as well! Check out our food and beverage menu online for a full view of what we have to offer the Jersey Shore and let us know what your favorite is!
